Business: Nirmaan Enterprises
Nirmaan Enterprises sell bags made using scrap cloth. Students were
involved in a brainstorming session which focussed on how the enterprise
can be improved. From this session Nirmaan Enterprises decided that
their business would diversify to sell:
- Cushion covers
- Table clothes
- Napkins.
- Cross stitching and block printing have been adopted make products more appealing.
The enterprise is eco-friendly, using reusable materials to
create long lasting products which can be reused time and again. This
strategy is highly topical in Delhi as the use of plastic bags has been
banned. In addition to students gaining valuable entrepreneurial
experience and business skills, the enterprise provides women with
employment opportunities, acting as mentors to pupils.
Nirmaan Enterprises intend to spend their profits will be reinvested in to the business to purchase new accessories and fabrics to diversify further. Students are aiming to continue spreading awareness of the use of cloth bags rather than disposable plastic bags.
